Project Censored, 2007

Some of these I didn't realize were 'censored' (e.g. net neutrality). Apparently I read things that cover them anyway.

(So why is this 2007's list already? Is it kind of like the fact that the 2008 cars will be coming out in August?)

If you look at the dates on the articles, you will note that they are from June 1 2005 - May 31 2006. I presume the 2007 year refers to the year in which they were selected.

Yes, I did notice the article dates (or at least noticed that the ones I saw were from 2005/6)--although some of the follow-ups are a bit later, I think.

I do think that "Top 25 Censored Stories of 2007" is at the least confusing, however. When we're talking about news stories, I assume that "of 2007" means "actually taking place in 2007" (or, more to the point, "actively censored in 2007") rather than "selected in 2007". Obviously there has to be some lead time--how can you tell that a story was 'censored' if you don't wait a while after the initial events/coverage to see whether it spreads?--but titling this list in this way could lead to loss of credibility if any of these topics _do_ get wide coverage in 2007. ("Whaddaya mean, 'censored stories of 2007'--it's right there in the Noo Yawk Times front page in Septemba, innit?")

So, yeah, bad title, IMO. :)
