origami bombs for peace

As a relief from some of the more depressing news bits, I give you the BBC Online's article "Thais drop origami 'peace bombs'".

This idea appeals on a number of levels, although my cynical self lacks faith in it's effacay.

*shrug* I understand where you're coming from, and my cynical self agrees that that action, in itself, is unlikely to fix things. However, it involves a pretty public committment on the part of the Thai government to a peaceful solution. By me, this is a significant improvement over, say, our own government's likely response to an analogous event...and I find it a hopeful sign that the problem will be solved peacefully.

Oh, I love it a statement too. It's beautiful theater. I just have very little faith in human nature or the benevalence of governments.
