why is it always "me, me"?

Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] mrlogic:

"Write down the names of the first four songs to come to mind."

(1) Peter Gabriel, "In Your Eyes" (the Secret World Live version)

This one's been going around for a bit; among other things, it is the first song that appears on the compilation CD that Megan and I burned of "lullabies" (or at least things to play while he's going to sleep) for Corwin. (Yes, Megan and I have weird ideas of what constitutes a lullaby.)

(2) Dire Straits, "Money For Nothing", Brothers In Arms

Specifically, the electric guitar solo at the beginning. The transition to auralizing1 this from (1) was very sharp, much like changing a channel.

(3) Bobby McFerrin [Fauré], "Pavane", Paper Music

This was on the short list of pieces that Megan and I considered using for our personal wedding processional. (The parents and the wedding party each got their own piece.) What's amusing is that while this is the third piece of music I auralized, it is not the third song name that came to mind; I started auralizing this one while fishing around in my brain for the next.

(4) Canadian Brass [Bach], "Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor", The Pachelbel Canon: Great Baroque Music

Not sure why this one came to mind, really. I have occasionally thought that it might be appropriate as my funeral music. It also reminds me, thematically, somehow, of some of Pink Floyd's music.

Thanks. Sorry, for some reason I thought you already knew about my LJ (in retrospect, I'm not sure why). :)
