Most of this isn't really new, but some of the investigative brain research is interesting. Also intriguing is the suggestion that perhaps the 'auras' that some people (claim to) perceive are actually synesthetic phenomena.

They've known people who do well on tasks like remembering strings of numbers generally associate numbers with colors, personalities, etc. for ages.

Some synesthetes report seeing auras.
