okay, who cracked the sky before boiling it?

Not only have I never seen clouds like this before--apparently they're called mammatus clouds, which I haven't even _heard_ of. (It's not like I'm an especially well-read amateur meteorologist or anything, but I thought I knew the various cloud formation names. This one's new to me.)

They remind me of what egg white looks like after it's oozed out of a cracked egg that you've boiled, once it has cooled and resolidified. V. funky. I guess this is something I've missed by not living in the Midwest (no, I don't think Colorado counts).
