auros posted references to a couple of well-written articles: one on financial risks and long-term investments, and an extended Q&A on the nature of Social Security, its status, and what various proposals would do to it. His post also does a good job of summarizing the first article, which does get technical at times. Both are rather long, but well worth reading.
