So as a brief break from angst-ridden posts on politics and goofy stuff, how about an actual journal entry?

Last night Megan and I had some friends (including darcydodo) over for a Game Thingy. We were missing some of the local Usual Suspects, and most of our guests folded before we managed to finish a single game ( :P ), but I'm glad that darcydodo was able to make it; since Danyel moved up to Seattle, my connections with anyone in bab5 have been, well, remote. Ditto for Talana, who will mostly be in El Paso for the next ten months or so. Nevertheless, I enjoyed getting to hang out with our friends; Megan and I really ought to have done this more often. (Especially considering that starting in about a month we probably won't be entertaining guests, or going to parties, for some time...)

Did I mention that three of my friends defended their doctoral dissertations on the same day (Monday prior to Thanksgiving)? I have got to get my ass in gear and finish my degree...

On a vaguely related note, Megan and I missed our Portland friends' Solstice Party this year. Since we also missed OryCon this year, this means that we haven't seen several of our friends at all this year. :(
