I dealt with a mild case of that in college. redmed had an apartment, which she shared with a girl. Said girl had a girlfriend who was on both Lithium and Ritalin for her various psychoses ... and she usually took "drug holidays" when she came to see redmeds roomate. Wanted to be "natural" and "herself".

"Herself" was a compulsive liar. Any topic of conversation, she was an expert. You went on a camping trip? She had spent 7 years backpacking across south america. You saw a horse? She had lived with a circus for 3 years, training horses. Etc.

The most painful episode was the day that my very kind and honest friend _earthshine_ met her. He comes from New York. Hey guess what ... so did she! He was geeked! From where in New York? Oh, on the wrong side of the tracks. Nice boy like him wouldn't have been there. No seriously, he grew up in some nasty neighborhoods. Was it X? Y? Z?

It hurt to watch.
