I have decided that if Bush were to die for any reason, our current Vice President would need a nickname so that his new status would be immediately apparent. A brief consideration suggests that some kind of lumpy root vegetable would be appropriate, both to his physique and to his personality. While certain aspects of each (not to mention the current connection between Republicans and the color red) might suggest either "Radish" or "Beet", I believe that a more ubiquitous vegetable--the potato--would be a better choice. (Among other reasons, it is associated with a previous VP to a previous President Bush--if spelled somewhat differently.) Finally, of course, one supposes that a more "down-home" variant of "potato" might fly better with the Republicans' so well-loved rural voters.
Thus, I give you:
Dick "Tater" Cheney.
