the weirdness of teaching English in Japan

I am a Japanese School Teacher

This might make some of my friends who teach feel a bit better about their jobs (as in, "at least I don't have to cope with that"). Or not.

My poor mother. If she had any idea I was using her computer to read about kancho. She's gone to sleep, and sitting here a couple of rooms away I have to work painfully hard to stifle my laughter when I read something like, "If you ever try that again, I will give you the biggest kancho in the history of Japan."

[pauses to recover breath from laughter]

Thanks for sending that along. It makes even my summer camp job (including the kid years ago who, when he raised his hand and I called on him, handed me one of his teeth) seem a lot more normal in comparison.
