Conflicting impulses have been pulling me both towards and away from creating a blog for some time. Looks like we finally have a resolution, spurred in part by my friend (in the original meaning of "friend"--you know, before social software tried to hijack the term) amnesiadust, who got tired of my posting anonymously on his LJ. :)

The frequency of my posting will be driven, more than anything else, by the ongoing conflict between my desire to finish my Ph.D. sometime before the heat death of the universe, and the huge backlog of things that have been waiting for the right venue to be said. (Given how infrequently I update certain aspects of my web site--as opposed to how often I say that I should--I'm not going to make any guarantees.)

I may also decide that some other blogging tool is the Right Answer. We'll see.
