A while back I posted a link to Our Karl Rove.

I happened to stop by and check out the "About" page today, and found that I was one of several people whose snappy quotes were used to sum up the favorable opinions of this blog.

(Heck, he even spelled my name right, although I'm puzzled by the mid-name font/size shift.)

Either this guy doesn't get many links, or I am possessed of a greater measure of quotability than I had previously realized.

Incidentally, it's still a good read, if you're interested in political strategies and message-crafting.

It's the New Scientist so it's not exactly high-quality science journalism...but it's not bad, and it's reasonably accessible.

If you honestly think that the Internet is an "echo chamber" and that there's no point to online discourse (or, for that matter, voting), in part because there's too much crap on the Internet, please do us all a favor and shut the hell up. Don't write online columns or blogs that explore your views at legnth. It's the least that you can do.

(Side note: please also avoid using metaphors to describe the Internet. (This goes double for anything including the word "superhighway".) They make you sound ignorant (which may be a plus, as it makes establishing this important fact easier), but it makes my teeth ache.)

This has been a public service announcement. Thank you for listening.

(Yes, I know that no one to whom these comments apply will read this. Leave me alone, I'm self-indulgently venting.)

An attempt to simulate Rove's "good twin". Worth reading, and I wish that I had known about this when I wrote this earlier screed.

(Of course, I don't see any particular evidence that any more people are paying attention to this person than they are to me. But at least the blog has a snappier title for the purpose.)

I don't know that I necessarily agree with this guy's suggestions...but the idea is interesting.

I am fortunate enough to know a number of people who are both good at communicating and have interesting things to say. One of those is [livejournal.com profile] naudiz, who happens recently to have written some rants on the subject of Christianity and its place in American society. Like the subject line says: whee-ha! Seriously, she should try to sell some of these rants to someone. Or possibly publish them as a book.
