(that is, "Ten Things I've Done That You Probably Haven't (For Sufficiently Small Values of 'You')".)

  1. ridden a bicycle while carrying a French horn in one hand
  2. choreographed my proposal of marriage in such a way that a third party did most of the talking
  3. performed a second take of a solo performance at the end of a 6th-grade talent show (after having utterly screwed up the first take, earlier that evening)
  4. received a Bachelor of Arts (not Science!) in mathematics and computer science
  5. observed, in person, the birth of a child via Caesarian section
  6. run down a hallway with a woman slung over either shoulder
  7. had a policeman's baton bounce off my music stand during a musical performance
  8. bought a vacuum-tube electronic organ from a thrift store
  9. sung every voice part from Soprano I through Bass III (yes, that's "three") _after_ my voice changed (and everything from Sop I through Tenor I before)
  10. asked by a director (who had never met me) to audition for the part of God

I got a Bachelors of Math in Computer Science and Pure Math. Overall, I'd say it's pretty uncommon, but too many people on my friends list have done the same it to make it on my TTIDTYPH.

Soprano I after your voice changed? Have you got some kind of insane falsetto I don't know about?

Trust me, yes.

More or less, although I can't sing as high as I used to be able to, and my top end varies more. I can often count on being able to sing a G 1.5 octaves above middle C, though, which is good enough for most S1 parts. Technically, however, I think I've only sung Soprano (i.e., top of 4 parts) in concert since my voice changed, but I've noodled around on other pieces during rehearsals with the S1 part.

Yes, but do you have a "natural blend?"

This near mythical beast is identified by the fact that you can slide smoothly over the transition between your registers. No crack, no pop, no break. Nothing. Just smooth and silky from, say, Bass clef middle line D up to the A above male range. ;)

Yes, I do. Lots of jazz choir helps with that. (There are styles of music, and ranges, in which maintaining this smooth transition is difficult for me...but a smooth slide is easy.)

As you know, I have done half of #4. Bur only half.

Ah, #2 . . . :-) :-)

I noticed you were too clever to list running around naked outside.

Um, well, yes. There are several weird things that I've done that are more entertaining than what I've listed here, to be sure, but they're things that several (at least!) of my friends are quite likely to have done, too. I suppose that I could start yet another variant on this meme called "10 unusual things that I think that I and my friends have nonetheless all done". :)

I've done #9, but not in concert. In concert I've sung every part from Alto I to Bass III.
